Not promoting anything here, but thanks to a cool promotion at Blockbuster, I've got unlimited free rentals until the beginning of next month. And, I'm using this opportunity to watch all the movies I've missed over the last year and change.
Film #2:
The American
The guy at Blockbuster actually tried to convince to not rent it, saying that he had been warned and that it was "terrible." Well, my friend, I happened to love it. George Clooney is a badass. And, I now have a new cinematic crush: Violante Placido.
Anton Corbijn directed the hell out of this "thriller." I've never used the word "taut" to described anything, let alone a film, but I will right here, right now. The American is a taut thriller. I was glued to the TV screen from the opening shot to the final shot. What a hell of a time.
And, that's why you listen to your gut. (4 1/2 out of 5)
